Future projects

Due to the COVID Pandemie The Foundation has cancelled all public events. More in formation will follow after our normal life will be possible again. We will offer extensive audition training for young opera singers who have recently graduated. An international faculty will provide work sessions on the highest professional level. But career advice will still be possible. Please contact Hans Nieuwenhuis ( hans@orfeofoundation.org ) or Richard Harrell (rick.harrell@orfeofoundation.org)

Between September 14-19, 2021 Artistic Director Hans Nieuwenhuis will be a jury member at the Klaudia Taev Competition in Pärnu ( Estonia). Promfest.ee/competition

In November 2021 Artistic Director Hans Nieuwenhuis will be in Canada visiting Toronto and Montreal as a member of the selection committee of Les Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyrique. Singers who want to meet Mr. Nieuwenhuis or sing for him during his stay in Canada can contact him at hans@orfeofoundation.org

In the past we have organized a Summer Course in France for small groups of young singers. (In collaboration with the Academie de la Roche d’hysand other organizations). Participating singers  were coached and advised about effective auditioning and career planning. Several participants during the last three courses have appeared recently at major opera houses: tenor Nikhil Navkal sang a major role during the Aix-en-Provence Festival and recently made his debut in Australia . Counter tenor Daichi Fujiki  sang several roles for the Vienna State Opera and has many engagements in Japan and Europa. Soprano Katharine Dain appeared with the Dutch National Opera and in various productions in France, Canada and the US. Other successful participants were Canadian-Turkish mezzo-soprano Beste Kalender, Canadian soprano Susanne Tsagkaris, Chinese tenor  Andrew Li Ting and Dutch mezzo-soprano Rosina Fabius.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES

During his tenure as Director of Opera Studio Nederland Hans Nieuwenhuis has organized two important international conferences with a range of directors of Young Artists Programs and Vocal Competitions, impresarios and casting directors. Both conferences (in 2000 and 2010) were named after Hans de Roo, the late intendant of the Netherlands Opera who was a staunch supporter of young opera talent. The Foundation intends to  continue this tradition and organize regular meetings of a range of professionals involved in teaching, coaching and casting young singers. Participants will include impresarios, casting directors, leaders of singing competitions and opera studios and artistic directors of opera companies and concert series. These meetings are in service of finding new ways to identify and support immerging operatic talent

PRESENTATIONS

The foundation will produce musical performances and presentations with “Orfeo Singers” in important venues in Amsterdam, Brussels and Montreal. For these projects we will almost always work together with our partners, festivals or sponsors.
